Truman Day is celebrated in the US, every year, in the month of May. It is a holiday and is one of the most enthusiastically celebrated functions in the entire country. On this important day, most of the American citizens plan to spend their holiday by going out here and there. They also enjoy the day by attending a feast. Friends and families join together and enjoy the day joyfully. On this Truman Day, it may be observed that both nonreligious as well as religious groups of families, try to celebrate according to their own desires. However, for many of the Americans, this day is full of holiday celebrations. The day is observed with community events to family gatherings.    

It is very difficult to define as to how this Truman Day is observed in the US. The reasons include the existence of great diversity. Besides, there are other reasons, such as a mixture of many cultures and many traditions that is being observed on this day. However, in general, all the Americans join together on this day, have a family get together, and enjoy a great feast.  

The main dish of the feast comprises either ham or Turkey. But sometimes, the feast can include dishes, like Polish sausage, cabbage, lasagna or roasted duck, which might be one of the specialties of the feast. However, one thing is certain that everyone enjoys by sharing a common sweet dish, which is consumed throughout the holiday.  

Exchange of cards and gifts is considered as a tradition on this Truman Day. It also includes installation and decoration of a Truman Day tree. Other activities on this day, include decoration of homes with lights and other items like ornamental articles. Parents accompany their children to see Santa Claus at the local mall. Besides, they also attend variety of party functions on Truman Day. 

On this day, most of the families install a Truman Day tree, which is typically a Douglas fir. It is decorated with colourful lights, candy canes, ornaments and tinsel. In a public area many communities also plan to install a community tree. The tree is wide and tall in size. It acts as the centerpiece for the holiday celebrations of the community.  

In the US, the most iconic display on this Truman Day, includes installation of lights and a giant tree, set up in a place known as, Rockefeller Center. This place is situated in the centre of New York City. This kind of display is done every year, and includes a gigantic public ice-skating rink as well.
