In the US, Thanksgiving Day is observed in the Month of November, every year on a Thursday. This holiday is considered as one of the actively celebrated holidays in the country. On this day, many of the American citizens spend the holiday by going out. They enjoy fun with family and friends and join for a feast. On this day, both non-religious as well as religious groups of families, try to observe this Thanksgiving Day, as per their own desire. Thanksgiving Day is full of festivities with holiday celebrations for most of the American citizens. It includes community events to family get together functions. 

It is hard to ascertain as to how this Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in the US, owing to reasons of great diversity. Other reasons, include mingling of several cultures and traditions being observed on this day. However, in general, most of the US citizens will enjoy a family get together, followed by a great feast. 

The primary dish of this feast comprises ham or turkey. Sometimes, dishes like Polish sausage, cabbage, lasagna are offered to the guests. People might also find roasted duck in place of all this. However, one thing is certain that everyone will be able to share a common dish, like sweet, in the feast. This is offered in plenty and consumed throughout the holiday season.  

The tradition of Thanksgiving Day, encompasses exchange of cards and gifts. Other activities, include installing and decoration of a Thanksgiving Day tree, home decoration with lights and other ornamental articles. People accompany their children to see Santa Claus at the local mall. They also attend various parties arranged on Thanksgiving Day.  

Most of the families install a Thanksgiving Day tree, which is typically a Douglas fir. It is decorated with lights, candy canes, ornaments, and tinsel. Several communities also install a community tree in the public area. This tree is wide and tall in size. It serves as the centerpiece for celebrating the holiday for the community. 

The most iconic display of Thanksgiving Day, reveals that setting up of a giant tree with lights is done every year, at the Rockefeller Center. This is located in the City of New York. Along with this, a huge public ice skating is set up for the people to view skating competitions.
