Out of the most actively observed holidays by the US citizens, Thanksgiving Friday is prominently celebrated throughout the country. Thanksgiving Friday is observed on a Friday, in the month of November, every year. Many of the Americans celebrate this day enthusiastically by visiting other places of interest. They spend the entire holiday by having fun with friends and families, followed by a sumptuous feast.  However, it may be seen that both non-religious as well as religious groups of people, plan to observe the celebrations in their own way. 

But, for many of the US citizens, this day is full of festival celebrations. It ranges from community events to family get together functions. 

It is very difficult to ascertain as to how precisely this Thanksgiving Friday is celebrated in the US. The reasons, include great diversity, mingling of several cultures and traditions that is being observed on this day. But, in general, most of the families join together to enjoy a grand feast. 

The main dish of the feast, includes usually, ham or turkey. But in some of the feasts, Polish sausage, lasagna and cabbage are offered to the guests. In place of all this, roasted duck is another option available. However, one thing is certain that everyone attending the feast will be able to share a common dish. This includes plenty of sweets that can be eaten throughout the season as well. 

The tradition of Thanksgiving Friday, include exchange of cards and gifts, installing and decorating of a Thanksgiving Friday tree. Other activities, include decoration of homes with lights and other ornamental articles. People accompany their children to the local mall to see Santa Claus. They also visit various party functions arranged on this day. 

Many of the US families install a Thanksgiving Friday tree, which is typically a Douglas fir. This is decorated with lights, tinsel, ornaments and candy canes. Several communities install a community tree in the centre of a public area. The tree is wide and tall in size. It acts as a centerpiece for the community to hold the holiday celebrations. 

The most significant feature on this day, in the US, is the display of lights and giant tree set up every year, at a place known as, Rockefeller Center. This is located in the City of New York. Along with this, a huge public ice-skating rink is made available for the people to enjoy a skating game.
