In the US, one of the most popularly celebrated holidays is Texas Independence Day. The entire country observes this day as a holiday. On this day, many Americans celebrate this day by going out. They go to attend parties, have sumptuous and a delicious feast. They enjoy the day by having fun with friends and families. People belonging to both non-religious and religious groups, celebrate this important day in a wonderful way.  Texas Independence Day, is a total holiday for most of the Americans. The holiday celebrations start from community events, and finally end with family get together parties. 

While looking into the Independence Day celebrations in Texas, US, it is difficult to visualize how it is observed. The reason is the existence of great diversity. This means there is mixture of several cultures and traditions to be observed on this important day. However, in general, it has been found that most of the people join for a family get together to enjoy a great feast. 

Usually, Ham or Turkey, constitute the main dish. But in certain cases, special dishes, like Polish type sausages, lasagna and cabbage are included in the menu of the feast. People can also find roasted duck in place of other common dishes. However, one thing is certain that everyone attending the celebrations enjoy sweets, which is served on this special day. 

Exchanging of cards and gifts is another important tradition that marks the Texas Independence Day. Celebrations on this day, also involves decoration of home with colourful lights and other ornamental items. People become busy by taking their children to see Santa Claus, displayed in the local mall. The day is spent further, by attending various parties on this wonderful day of Independence in Texas. 

Many families do set up a Texas Independence Day tree. This is nothing, but a typical Douglas fir tree. Lights are decorated on this tree with other items, like candy canes, ornamental articles and tinsel. In the centre of a public area, it is customary for several communities to install a community tree. They are wide and tall in size. Besides, they act as the centrepiece for the community’s celebrations to be held on this exciting holiday. 

Most important of all is that, on this day of Texas Independence, display of lights and a giant tree set up can be seen. This arrangement is done every year at the Rockfeller Center, located in the City of New York, US. Besides, people can witness and enjoy events taking place at public skating rink on this day.
