New Year’s Day (USA) is celebrated on the first day of January, every year, across the US. This New Year's Day is considered as one among the enthusiastically celebrated holiday by most of the Americans. On this important occasion, people go out and celebrate with a feast. Families and friends greet each other on this eventful day and attend a sumptuous feast. This New Year's Day is celebrated by non-religious and religious groups, according to their own desire.  

It should be understood that for most of the American citizens, this day is full of festive celebrations. The festivities, including the holding of community events to family, get together functions. 

In the US, it is very difficult to ascertain as to how this important day is celebrated. The obvious reason is that great diversity prevails. Besides, other valid reasons, include a mixture of several cultures and traditions. This is being followed as a part of New Year's Day. But it should be seen that by and large, most of the American citizens, enjoy the day in a get-together party. This is followed by a feast. 

The main dish of the feast comprises either Ham or Turkey. But, occasionally it may include dishes, like sausage of Polish type, lasagna, and cabbage. Alternatively, the feast is served with roasted duck as well. However, one thing is certain that everyone attending the function shares a common dish like sweet, which is consumed the entire day.   

The other tradition that is being observed by the people on this day includes the exchange of cards and gifts. Activities like decorating the home with lights, installing and decorating New Year's Day tree, and other ornamentation are the highlights of this New Year’s Day celebrations. Parents plan to accompany their children to the local mall to see the display of Santa Claus on this day. Further, they also attend new year party functions.  

Many of the American families install a New Year's Day tree, which is similar to a typical Douglas fir. This is decorated with lights, candy canes, ornaments, and tinsel. Further, it may be seen that many American communities join together to install a community tree in the central place of a public area. This tree is wide and tall in size. It serves as the centerpiece for the community holiday celebrations.   

The most iconic display of this New Year's Day celebration, in the US, is that it includes setting up of a giant tree at Rockefeller Center. This is decorated with lights, every year. This place is located in the City of New York. Besides, people can enjoy viewing skating competitions that is being held at a huge ice-skating rink established at this place.
