One of the most popular and actively celebrated holidays in the US, is Juneteenth. On this day, many Americans plan to travel outside the US to spend their holiday. Celebrations on this Juneteenth day, includes not only holding an extravagant feast, but also enjoying with friends and family. People belonging to both non-religious as well as religious group, celebrate this Juneteenth day in their own way. Holding community events and family gatherings form an important part of celebrations on Juneteenth for Americans.     

Owing to diversified culture in the US, it is difficult to ascertain as to how and in what way Juneteenth is celebrated. There is a mixture of several cultures and traditions that are observed on Juneteenth day. But, most of the Americans hold parties in the form of family get together by holding a great feast. 

The feast consists of a menu that include, ham or turkey, which is considered as the most common dish. Besides, it also includes dishes, like lasagna, cabbage or even roasted duck. Everyone in the community joins to enjoy this feast. Variety of sweet items are served and eaten throughout the season. 

Exchanging of cards and gifts is the significance of holiday celebrations on this day of Juneteenth. Activities also include decorating homes with Juneteenth tree, lights and other items. Parents accompany their children to see Santa Claus at the local mall. 

Many families install Dougles fir and decorate it with lights. Tinsel, ornaments and candy canes are used in the decoration. In the midst of a community area, community tree is installed, which appears wide and tall in size. 

In the Rockefeller Center of New York City, there is an iconic display of lights and a huge tree on this day. One can visit a huge public ice-skating rink on this occasion.
